characteristics of bacteria

1. Bacteria are different than eukaryotic cells in several ways.
  • no nucleus

  • 10x smaller

  • DNA in circular structure

  • reproduce by binary fission

  • single cellular structure

  • use flagella to move

  • can use anaerobic respiration and aerobic

2.

3. Gram staining is importana in medicine because the two groups of bacteria differ in their susceptibility to different antibiotic would be most usefu in fighting an infection.

4. Conjugation is a process in which two organisms exchange genetic material.

Parts of a Cell. =]

*Nucleus: An internal compartment that houses the cell's DNA.

*Mitochondrian: Orgenelle that harvests energy ffom organic compounds to make ATP.

*Lysosomes: Small, spherical organelles that contain the cell digestive energy.

*Cell Membrane: Encloses the cell and separates the cell interior.

*Ribosomes: The cellular stuctures on which protiens are made.

*Endoplasmic Reticula (ER): An extensive system of internal membrane that move protiens and other substances through the cell.

*Cytoplasm: Regulates what enters and leaves the cell.

*Golgi Aparatus: An organelle that packeges and distributes molecules produced by a eukaryotic cell.

*Vacuole: Membranebound cavity in plant cells used for storage.

*Chloroplast: Organelle that uses light energy to make carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water.

*Cell Wall: The structure that surrounds the cell membrane and provides support for the cell.

camas..

Two varieties of camas were considered the staple food items and were abundant in several areas. The "Brown" camas, an onion like bulb, was dug in damp meadows. It was dried in large fire pits in layers separated by moss and eaten whole or added to fish and meat for seasoning. The "White" camas is found in rocky areas of the plateau country. It was used primarily for making flour. Today the "Brown" camas is found in several places on the Spokane Reservation and just to the north of Camas Prairie. The "White" camas is usually dug in an area between Davenport and Creston, Washington.

newtons laws of motion

--Newton’s Laws
1. An object at rest remains at rest and object in motion maintains its velocity unless it experiences an unbalanced force.

2. The unbalanced force acting on an object equals the object’s mass times its acceleration.

3. The acceleration of an object is proportional to the net force on the object and inversely proportional to the object’s mass.
